Every format in detail
Facebook cover photo
The recommended Facebook cover photo size is 851 × 315 px, and the minimum is 400 × 150 px. Facebook frames the cover differently on computers and phones, so keep text and logos in the centre.
DetailsFacebook post image
A Facebook post image works best at 1080 × 1350 px (4:5) or 1080 × 1080 px (1:1). For feed ads Meta recommends 1440 × 1800 px (4:5), and for link previews at least 1200 × 630 px.
DetailsFacebook event cover
Meta publishes no Facebook event cover size; 1920 × 1005 px, about 1.91:1, is the size most tools and guides use. It is not 16:9, although some guides label it that way.
DetailsFacebook profile picture
Upload a Facebook profile picture at 320 × 320 px (1:1). Facebook shows it at 176 × 176 px on computers and 196 × 196 px on smartphones, cropped to a circle.

Official sizes and common sizes
Facebook publishes the cover photo (851 × 315 px, at least 400 × 150 px) and profile picture (320 × 320 px) sizes for Pages, and Meta publishes feed specs for ads. There is no official size for event covers or for organic posts.
For those, these pages use the sizes most tools agree on: 1920 × 1005 px for event covers, and 4:5 or 1:1 at 1080 px wide for posts.
One image for Facebook and Instagram
Facebook and Instagram feeds both accept 4:5, so one 1080 × 1350 px image works on both. Covers are where the two differ: a Facebook Page has a wide cover photo, and an Instagram profile has none.
