The standard flyer size in the US is 8.5 × 11 in (letter, 2550 × 3300 px at 300 DPI), with 5.5 × 8.5 in as the half-page option; in Europe flyers are commonly A4, A5, A6 or DL (99 × 210 mm).

Pixels at each resolution
The same physical size needs more pixels the sharper you want it. 300 DPI is the usual target for print, 150 DPI for large posters seen from afar.

Templates to start from
Standard flyer sizes
In the US a full-page flyer is letter size, 8.5 × 11 in, and a half-page flyer is 5.5 × 8.5 in. Two half-letter flyers come from one letter sheet.
In Europe the A sizes do the same job. A5 (148 × 210 mm) suits a handout with a few points, A4 (210 × 297 mm) a menu or price list, and A6 (105 × 148 mm) a short message.
DL flyer size
A DL flyer is 99 × 210 mm, one third of an A4 sheet. It fits a DL envelope (110 × 220 mm), and an A4 sheet folded twice gives the same size.
DL is not an ISO paper size: it is a printer convention named after the DL envelope. With 3 mm bleed the file is 105 × 216 mm.
Letter or A4?
Letter is 8.5 × 11 in (216 × 279 mm): wider and shorter than A4 at 210 × 297 mm. A layout made for one will not fit the other without changes.
Design for the paper of the country where the flyer is printed. A US printer works in letter sizes, a European one in A sizes.
Tips
- Check the paper first: letter sizes in the US, A sizes almost everywhere else.
- Run backgrounds 0.125 in (3 mm) past the edge for bleed and keep text at least as far inside the trim.
- Put the offer and the call to action in the top half, so they read even when flyers overlap in a stack.
- For a DL flyer, set 1169 × 2480 px, which is 99 × 210 mm at 300 DPI.
