Best AI SEO agents in 2026: 10 tools compared by what they actually do

Ten AI SEO agents and tools, one template for each: what the agent does on its own, where a human approves, how you undo a change and what it costs. Ranked by the team each one fits, not by an overall score.

Semurai SEO editor on the Morrowfield Coffee Co. demo project: a cold brew article and the Ask AI panel, where Tenko made 5 changes to add missing SEO terms

Quick answer

For an AI SEO agent that makes hands-off technical fixes across many sites, look at Search Atlas OTTO, or Alli AI if your agency deploys changes in bulk through a snippet, and Rankability if you want every site change as a GitHub pull request. For content, Frase waits for your approval by default, SEOBot suits solo founders who want articles on autopilot, Writesonic pairs content with AI visibility tracking, and Nightwatch is the pick when rank tracking is the core. If you are a small marketing or e-commerce team that wants SEO, content, social and store SEO handled by one team of AI marketing agents, with approval before publishing, Semurai is built for that.

How we compared AI SEO agents

We compared every tool on the same six buyer questions, using public pages checked in October 2026. An AI SEO agent plans and carries out SEO work, so the questions focus on what happens without you. If you are new to the idea, start with what an AI SEO agent is. Semurai comes first because it is our product; the other nine follow in order of the team each one fits. Prices are shown in the currency of the vendor's pricing page (some in EUR), and vendors change plans often, so check the linked page before you buy.

  • What the agent does alone: research, drafts, fixes, publishing, monitoring.
  • Where human approval sits: before every change, per content type, or optional.
  • Whether it publishes to your CMS: and how (plugin, snippet, DNS, Git).
  • How to undo a change: a documented rollback, or nothing stated.
  • Which data it uses: Google results, Search Console, its own crawler, AI answers.
  • Price model: per site, article, credit or task, or a shared usage limit.

Only two vendors document a rollback: Search Atlas ("roll back changes anytime") and Rankable ("can be undone in one click"). Rankability sends site changes as GitHub pull requests, which Git can revert. For the other tools, the pages we checked describe no rollback, so the control sits before a change goes live.

Semurai (our product): best for small marketing and e-commerce teams

Semurai is a team of eight AI agents, Semur the lead plus seven specialists, that plans and drafts SEO, content, social and store SEO work and waits for your approval before publishing (semur.ai, checked October 2026).

RecordingTranscript
  1. On the home screen, write your SEO goal
  2. For example: get the cold brew guide into the top 10
  3. Semur splits the goal into tasks for Keyres, Tenko, Hime and Rankmaru
  4. Rank tracking and publishing are marked: they need your approval
  5. Approve the plan, and the agents start
  6. Keyres finds the keywords, Tenko writes, Hime audits the page
  7. Before rank tracking and publishing, Semur asks for your OK
  • What the agent does on its own: Semur splits a request into up to six assignments and runs up to three specialists at once: Keyres (keywords), Tenko (articles, store copy), Hime (Health Score audits), Spynobi (competitors), Rankmaru (rank tracking), Somi (social) and Dezaina (brand and creative). In the chat's Autopilot mode, many drafts inside Semurai (articles, posts, plans, audits, designs) are prepared without a click; outlines and creative choices still ask you. An optional project autopilot, off by default, runs recurring duties with a veto window (12 hours by default) and weekly caps; it never publishes.
  • Approval and undo: publishing to a site, store or connected channel, scheduling a publication, applying WordPress changes, sending store proposals and deleting always wait for a person's click. Semur gathers the team's proposals on one approval card (up to 20 actions) and you choose which ones run. Campaign autopublish exists only as a switch you turn on per campaign. The control sits before publishing.
  • Integrations: WordPress plugin (works with Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO and SEOPress), WooCommerce through that plugin, a Shoper app, a PrestaShop module (8.1-9.x) and Google Search Console. Content calendar: Somi drafts and plans posts for Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
  • Languages: app and content in 14 languages, including English, Polish, Spanish, German and French; sign-up and checkout in English or Polish.
  • Price (checked October 2026, net): Free plan; Starter $39/mo or $29/mo billed yearly; Growth $99 or $79; Pro $249 or $199. Plans differ in AI usage capacity (1x, 3x, 8x), seats and tracked keywords (20, 40, 80). See Semurai pricing.
  • Best for: small marketing and e-commerce teams that want one team of agents across SEO, content, social and store SEO, with approval before publishing.
  • Watch out for: Semurai focuses on on-site SEO, content and rankings, so pair it with a link-building tool or agency if backlinks are part of your plan.

Search Atlas OTTO: best for hands-off technical fixes on many sites

Search Atlas is an all-in-one SEO suite; its agent, OTTO, in the vendor's words "runs your SEO on its own: technical fixes, on-page improvements, and content" (OTTO page, checked October 2026).

Search Atlas OTTO website (searchatlas.com/otto-seo)
Search Atlas OTTO: searchatlas.com/otto-seo, screenshot from October 2026.
  • What the agent does on its own: fixes titles, schema, canonicals, links, Open Graph tags and alt text, adds internal links and works on content; it also covers link building, digital PR and Google Business Profile, and requests indexing through Search Console and IndexNow.
  • Approval and undo: approval is optional ("Turn on approval mode to review each change"). Rollback is documented: "Review, approve, or roll back changes anytime."
  • Integrations: deploys through the OTTO Pixel, Cloudflare or CMS connectors, including WordPress, HubSpot, Webflow, Shopify, Contentful, Duda, GitHub, Vercel and Netlify.
  • Languages: not stated on the pages we checked.
  • Price (checked October 2026): Starter $99/mo with 50,000 credits and one site with OTTO, Growth $199, Pro $399, Agency from $999; 7-day trial on Starter and Growth (pricing).
  • Best for: teams and agencies that want technical fixes applied across many sites with little hands-on work.
  • Watch out for: changes are delivered through the pixel or connectors. Search Atlas says "every optimization stays live even after cancellation" and offers "Deep Freeze" to preserve them, so check how that works for your setup before you cancel. Usage runs on credits.

Alli AI: best for agencies that bulk-deploy changes via a snippet

Alli AI deploys SEO changes across sites through a one-line code snippet and serves pre-rendered HTML to AI crawlers (alliai.com, checked October 2026).

Alli AI website (alliai.com)
Alli AI: alliai.com, screenshot from October 2026.
  • What the agent does on its own: writes titles, schema and internal links and applies them in bulk by rules across many pages. Also: pre-rendering for "50+ AI crawlers", an AI bot traffic monitor, rank tracking and a speed optimizer.
  • Approval and undo: the product and pricing pages do not describe a review or rollback step; an older help article (2021) refers to "approved SEO recommendations", so ask how review and undo work today.
  • Integrations: WordPress plugin, Shopify, Salesforce, HubSpot, Webflow, Cloudflare, Lovable, plus server-level setups (Nginx, Apache, Akamai, CloudFront).
  • Languages: not stated on the pages we checked.
  • Price (checked October 2026): Business $299/mo monthly or $249/mo billed annually ($2,990/yr) for 5 sites; Agency $599 or $499; 10-day trial (pricing).
  • Best for: agencies that want to push the same kind of change to many client sites at once.
  • Watch out for (our assessment): bulk rules change many pages at once, so a wrong rule spreads quickly. Ask how review and undo work before you connect client sites.

Frase: best for content teams that want approval by default

Frase calls itself "the content operating system for AI search": it researches, writes, publishes and monitors content (frase.io, checked October 2026).

Frase website (frase.io)
Frase: frase.io, screenshot from October 2026.
  • What the agent does on its own: research, drafting, scheduled publishing and daily monitoring. Its "Content Guard" drafts a revision when a page slips. Briefs are built from Google results; MCP, CLI and API access are available.
  • Approval and undo: approval is the default ("Nothing ships until you approve it"), and you set autonomy per content type: manual, review-only or auto. No rollback is mentioned.
  • Integrations: WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, Wix and FraseCMS.
  • Languages: "70+".
  • Price (checked October 2026): Starter $49/mo monthly or $39/mo billed yearly (10 articles, 1 site), Professional $129 or $103, Scale $299 or $239; 7-day trial without a card (pricing).
  • Best for: content teams that want an agent to do the research and drafting, with a person signing off.
  • Watch out for: the calendar, internal links and repurposing start at Professional, and Starter covers 10 articles a month on one site.

Writesonic: best for tracking AI visibility alongside content

Writesonic's homepage title calls it "The AI Search Growth Engine": it tracks how your brand appears in AI answers and pairs that with an SEO agent and an article writer (writesonic.com, checked October 2026).

Writesonic website (writesonic.com/seo-ai-agent)
Writesonic: writesonic.com/seo-ai-agent, screenshot from October 2026.
  • What the agent does on its own: runs "continuous health checks" and "implements proven fixes without touching a line of code". Plans include 15, 25 or 50 articles a month, site audits and 50, 100 or 200 tracked AI prompts.
  • Approval and undo: the agent page describes no approval step or rollback; the homepage shows one-click "Auto-fix" with an Apply button and lists approval workflows on Enterprise.
  • Integrations: WordPress and Search Console on all plans (the pricing page does not say whether WordPress means publishing); GA4 and Looker Studio on Enterprise.
  • Languages: "50+ languages" (homepage).
  • Price (checked October 2026): Starter from $79 a month billed yearly, Basic $199, Growth $399 (the pricing page shows yearly prices only); you can start free without a card (pricing).
  • Best for: marketers who care how their brand appears in AI answers and want content work in the same tool.
  • Watch out for: self-serve plans cover one market each; more needs Enterprise. Third-party reviews (eesel.ai, 2025; UC Strategies, 2026) mention credits that do not roll over and generic output.

Rankability Serena: best for agencies that want changes as GitHub pull requests

Rankability describes itself as "The #1 AI search visibility platform for agencies", and Serena is its "AI SEO Strategist" (Serena page) that suggests, prioritises and helps draft work (Serena docs, checked October 2026).

Rankability (Serena) website (rankability.com)
Rankability (Serena): rankability.com, screenshot from October 2026.
  • What the agent does on its own: suggests and prioritises SEO work and helps draft it. Starter includes 20 content projects a month, audits, tracking across 11 AI platforms, local pack scans, and MCP and API access.
  • Approval and undo: website changes arrive only as GitHub pull requests; Serena "does not write directly to the default branch". You pick a mode: "Ask first", "Auto-create PRs" or "Full access". Rankability does not document a rollback, but a pull request can be reverted in Git.
  • Integrations: GitHub for site changes; MCP and API.
  • Languages: not stated on the pages we checked.
  • Price (checked October 2026): Starter $97/mo or $970/yr, Agency $297, Agency Pro $497; 7-day trial on monthly plans, card required (pricing).
  • Best for: agencies and in-house teams whose sites live in Git and who want every change reviewed like code.
  • Watch out for: Serena's site changes need a connected GitHub repository, and Rankability notes that connecting GitHub "does not deploy the customer's website". If your site runs on a hosted CMS, ask how changes reach it. The trial needs a card.

SEOBot: best for solo founders who want articles on autopilot

SEOBot presents itself as a "Fully autonomous SEO Robot with AI agents" built for founders (seobotai.com, checked October 2026).

SEOBot website (seobotai.com)
SEOBot: seobotai.com, screenshot from October 2026.
  • What the agent does on its own: keyword research, articles, internal links, backlinks and programmatic pages.
  • Approval and undo: it runs automatically by default; you can switch on approval to "approve or decline articles". No rollback is documented.
  • Integrations: WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Ghost, Framer, HubSpot, Notion, Next.js, REST, webhooks, Zapier and Make.
  • Languages: "50+ languages" claimed; the list on the site shows 30, without Polish.
  • Price (checked October 2026): "Subscriptions start at $49/mo"; no trial, but a full refund on the $49 plan if you are not satisfied after the first article (seobotai.com).
  • Best for: solo founders and small sites that want a steady flow of published articles without managing a writer.
  • Watch out for: a review by The Rundown AI (August 2026) warns that high-volume tiers raise keyword cannibalization and quality-control risk. On automatic, review what went live regularly.

Nightwatch: best if rank tracking is the core

Nightwatch is a rank tracker for Google, Bing and AI answers with an SEO agent, NightOwl, that it says can "Automate your SEO research, technical audits, SEO tasks, site changes, and rank tracking" (agent page, checked October 2026).

Nightwatch website (nightwatch.io/seo-ai-agent)
Nightwatch: nightwatch.io/seo-ai-agent, screenshot from October 2026.
  • What the agent does on its own: research, crawling and audits, and SEO tasks. The agent page lists "site changes" among its tasks; for technical issues its FAQ says it "helps you resolve them quickly with clear recommendations", and the help docs do not describe it editing your site (agent docs).
  • Approval and undo: no CMS publishing, approval step or rollback is described.
  • Integrations: tracks Google, Bing and AI answers; no CMS connection is described on the pages we checked.
  • Languages: not stated on the pages we checked.
  • Price (checked October 2026, shown in EUR): Starter €79/mo (€948/yr) with 100 agent credits, Professional €159, Agency €399; 14-day trial without a card (pricing).
  • Best for: teams whose daily work starts with positions in Google, Bing and AI answers.
  • Watch out for: agent use is capped by credits (100 a month on Starter), and the pages we read do not say whether the agent applies site changes itself, so ask before you rely on it for fixes.

Surfer: not an autonomous agent, but the reference content optimizer

Surfer is a content optimizer that scores your page against the pages ranking in Google and now also tracks AI search; it is not an autonomous agent (pricing and features, checked October 2026).

Surfer website (surfer.ai)
Surfer: surfer.ai, screenshot from October 2026.

It is here because buyers compare agents against it and it appears on four of the five "best AI SEO agents" lists we read. Surfer MCP left beta in October 2026, and Surfer calls it "a step toward our own Surfer Agent" (October 2026 update).

  • What it does on its own: Auto-Optimize fixes the content score in one click; Surfy is an in-app assistant. Also: Content Editor, the Surfer AI writer, a humanizer, internal linking (Pro), plagiarism check, rank drop detection and AI prompt tracking.
  • Approval and undo: you make and approve every change yourself, in the editor.
  • Integrations: WordPress and Google Docs from Standard; Contentful and MCP on Pro.
  • Languages: "Works with all languages".
  • Price (checked October 2026, shown in EUR): Discovery €49/mo billed yearly or €59 monthly, Standard €99 or €119, Pro €182 or €219, Peace of Mind €299 or €359 (pricing).
  • Best for: writers and editors who want a clear score to optimise a page against, and who do the publishing themselves.
  • Watch out for: Surfer does not publish on its own. A review written by Rankability, a competing vendor, says Surfer AI "produced factually incorrect results" (January 2026); read it as a competitor's view.

AirOps: content workflows for larger teams

AirOps is an AI search (AEO and GEO) content platform built on "agents, data, brand governance, and expertise", with workflows that "research, publish, and refresh content" (airops.com, checked October 2026).

AirOps website (airops.com)
AirOps: airops.com, screenshot from October 2026.
  • What the agent does on its own: runs content workflows for research, publishing and refreshes. Custom agents (Custom Agent Builds) are on Enterprise.
  • Approval and undo: "Human Review & Approvals" is listed, but the pricing page does not make clear which plan includes it. No rollback is mentioned.
  • Integrations: the pricing page shows logos for WordPress, Webflow, Contentful, Sanity, Framer, HubSpot, Shopify and others, without saying which ones publish.
  • Languages: not stated on the pages we checked.
  • Price (checked October 2026): you can start for free; the Solo plan includes 35,000 tasks and Pro 100,000 tasks, and paid prices are not published. The FAQ mentions a 14-day trial of a "Scale" plan that the page no longer lists (pricing).
  • Best for: larger content teams that want repeatable workflows with brand rules.
  • Watch out for: without a public price, budget for a demo and a quote. Confirm that review and approval steps are in the plan you buy.

Also worth a look

Two smaller tools nearly made the list (checked October 2026):

  • The SEO Agent publishes one researched article a day, automatically or after your approval, holding articles with unresolved fact problems for review. $99/mo for 30 articles; $1 3-day trial (pricing).
  • Rankable makes technical fixes itself, checks them on the live page and says "Every change is logged with the reason and can be undone in one click" (rankable.ai). From $49.50/mo billed yearly or $99 monthly; no trial (pricing).

Which AI SEO agent should you choose?

Choose by your team and by how much you want the agent to do without you.

  • Solo founder: SEOBot or The SEO Agent for articles without managing them, Frase Starter if you would rather approve each piece, Semurai if you also need social posts and a content calendar.
  • Content team: Frase for approval by default and per-type autonomy, Surfer as the optimizer your editors score against, AirOps once you need governed workflows at scale.
  • Agency: Search Atlas OTTO for hands-off technical fixes, Alli AI for bulk deployment through a snippet, Rankability if client sites live in Git and you want pull requests. Nightwatch if reporting starts with rankings.
  • E-commerce store: on Shopify, look at Search Atlas, Alli AI or SEOBot, which list it as an integration. On WooCommerce, Shoper or PrestaShop, Semurai drafts product and category SEO and waits for your approval before the store changes.
  • Enterprise: AirOps (custom agents on Enterprise), Writesonic Enterprise (more markets, GA4 and Looker Studio) or Search Atlas Agency.

AI SEO agent vs SEO agency

An AI SEO agent takes over part of the hands-on work, not the strategy and accountability a good agency brings. Most agents above start under $100 a month, while an Ahrefs survey of 439 providers found the most common agency retainer was $501-$1,000 a month (Ahrefs, updated August 2024). We compare both in AI SEO agent vs SEO agency.

Updated 27 October 2026: first version. All features and prices checked on the linked vendor pages in October 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI SEO agent?

There is no single best AI SEO agent; it depends on your team. Search Atlas OTTO and Alli AI suit agencies that want technical fixes at scale, Frase suits content teams that want approval by default, and SEOBot suits solo founders. Semurai suits small marketing and e-commerce teams that want SEO, content, social and store SEO in one place, with approval before publishing.

Are AI SEO agents worth it?

They are worth it when the work is repetitive and someone reviews it: drafts, briefs, technical fixes, rank monitoring. If nobody checks the output, errors and duplicate topics can reach your site. Start on a free plan or trial and judge the drafts first.

Can AI SEO agents publish automatically?

Some can. Search Atlas OTTO, SEOBot and Frase (when you set a content type to auto) can push changes or articles live, and Rankability can open pull requests on its own. Others, including Semurai, prepare the work and wait for a person to approve publishing (in Semurai, campaign autopublish is a switch you turn on yourself).

Do AI SEO agents work for e-commerce?

Yes, if the agent connects to your store platform. Search Atlas, Alli AI and SEOBot list Shopify, while Semurai works with WooCommerce, Shoper and PrestaShop and drafts product and category SEO for approval. Check the integration list before you buy.

Which AI SEO agents have a free plan or a trial?

Semurai and Writesonic let you start free, Frase and Search Atlas offer 7-day trials, Nightwatch a 14-day trial and Alli AI a 10-day trial, The SEO Agent a 3-day trial for $1, and Rankability a 7-day trial on monthly plans with a card. Rankable starts with a free site audit instead of a trial.
