Good to know

  • Custom connectors work on Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. On Free you get one custom connector.
  • On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner adds Semurai once in Organization settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web. Members then open Customize → Connectors and click Connect to link their own Semurai account.
  • Claude asks for permission before it uses a connector tool. You can choose to always allow a tool you trust.

Why connect

Claude on its own
vs Claude with Semurai.

Claude reasons and writes well. Connected to Semurai, it works from your real search data and saves the work where your team can use it.

  1. Claude on its own

Suggests topics from what it already knows, with no search volume or difficulty.

    Claude with Semurai

Checks volume, difficulty, intent and trend before it suggests a topic.

  2. Claude on its own

Cannot see your rankings or your Search Console.

    Claude with Semurai

Reads your tracked positions, their daily history and your Search Console queries and pages.

  3. Claude on its own

Leaves you a long answer to copy into your CMS.

    Claude with Semurai

Saves the article as a draft in Semurai’s SEO editor, ready to review and publish.

  4. Claude on its own

Plans in a chat you will not find next month.

    Claude with Semurai

Puts content plans and campaign drafts on your Semurai calendar.

Use cases

What can Claude do
for SEO with Semurai?

Claude is strong at reading, reasoning and long-form writing. Semurai gives it the data, and a place to save the work.

  • Keyword research with real numbers

Ask for long-tail ideas around a seed. Claude pulls volume, difficulty and questions, then groups them by intent.

  • Competitor and gap analysis

Claude compares your domain with up to five competitors and explains which missing keywords deserve a page.

  • Long-form SEO articles

Review the outline in the chat, then Claude has Semurai write the full article as a draft, with image placeholders or, through the full server, AI images.

  • Content plans and topic clusters

A topic cluster saved in Semurai, or a month of blog outlines and post drafts on your calendar.

  • Ranking and Search Console reports

The week’s movement of your tracked keywords and the Search Console opportunities, explained in plain language.

  • WordPress and store fixes

WordPress meta fixes as a change set and product SEO proposals for your store. Nothing changes until you approve it.

Example

A competitor gap,
turned into a plan.

One request in Claude, three Semurai tools, and a plan you open in Semurai.

  1. You:

Compare us with the competitor we track in Semurai. Which keywords are we missing, and what should we write first?

  2. Semurai tool: list_saved_competitors1 competitor
  3. Semurai tool: find_keyword_gapmorrowfield.coffee vs 1 competitor
  4. Assistant:

Four gaps worth a page, sorted by opportunity:

    KeywordVolumeDifficultyTheir position
    best beans for cold brew2,400264
    nitro cold brew at home3,600216
    cold brew concentrate recipe1,900179
    decaf cold brew1,300143

I would start with “best beans for cold brew”, since it leads to your shop pages. Shall I put all four on next month’s content plan?

  5. You:

    Yes, plan them for November.

  6. Semurai tool: create_content_planNovember 2026, 4 blog outlines
  7. Assistant:

Done. The plan with four blog outlines is on your Semurai calendar, waiting for your review.

Demo project: Morrowfield Coffee Co. (demo data). An example of Claude using three Semurai tools.

Prompts to try

Ask Claude
like this.

  • “Give me 20 question keywords around nitro cold brew, sorted by intent, with volume and difficulty for each.”
  • “Profile the domain that outranks us for “best beans for cold brew” and tell me what its page does better.”
  • “Draft an outline for “best beans for cold brew”, wait for my edits, then write the article in Semurai.”
  • “Summarise what changed in our rankings over the last 90 days and which pages lost the most.”
  • “Which pages got clicks from Search Console last month but rank below position 8? Suggest a fix for each.”
  • “Plan a month of blog content for our store and put it on the calendar.”

FAQ

Claude and Semurai: questions

Can Claude do SEO?

Claude is good at the thinking and writing side of SEO: research summaries, outlines, briefs and long-form drafts. On its own it has no keyword volumes, rankings or Search Console data. Connected to Semurai through MCP, it uses live search data and saves its work in your Semurai workspace.

Which Claude plans support custom connectors?

Custom connectors work on Claude Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Free plans get one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise an Owner adds Semurai once for the organization, and each member connects their own Semurai account.

Is Semurai a Claude MCP server or a Claude connector?

Both. Semurai is a remote MCP server, and Claude adds remote MCP servers as custom connectors. You paste https://api.semur.ai/mcp in Customize → Connectors, and Claude calls it a connector from then on.

Does the connector work in Claude Desktop and Cowork?

Yes. Custom connectors are available in Claude on the web, Claude Desktop and Cowork.

Do I need an API key to connect Claude?

No. Claude opens a Semurai page, you sign in with OAuth, pick a default workspace and click Allow. There is nothing to copy.

Does Claude ask before it changes anything?

Claude asks for permission before it uses a connector tool, and you can choose to always allow a tool. Before Semurai publishes to WordPress or queues a social post, you see the request in Claude and confirm it there, because those tools carry a flag for live changes.

Can I use Claude for marketing beyond SEO?

Yes. With Semurai connected, Claude drafts social posts for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X, plans 7-day campaign drafts, reads your content calendar and queues posts on connected Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn accounts.

Can Claude create images in Semurai?

Yes, once you add Semurai’s full server as a second connector. In Customize → Connectors, click + Add, choose Add custom connector, paste https://api.semur.ai/mcp/full and approve the new connection on the Semurai page. Claude can then generate brand-style images straight into your media library, design social graphics, banners and ads in Canvas, build carousels or presentations in Creative Studio and write alt texts for library images. It also answers the designer’s questions right in the chat, revises a design or goes back to an earlier version, and puts finished designs on social posts. Your first connector stays as it is, and graphics count toward your workspace’s usage limits.

How do I disconnect Claude from Semurai?

In Semurai, open Settings → AI assistants (MCP) and disconnect Claude. Its access ends at once.
