How do I connect ChatGPT
to Semurai?

Six steps in ChatGPT on the web. The current Plugins flow adds a ChatGPT MCP server without developer mode.

  1. In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins.

  2. Click +, then Add custom MCP server.

  3. Enter the name Semurai and the URL https://api.semur.ai/mcp, and set authentication to OAuth.

  4. Tick I understand and want to continue, then click Create as a plugin.

  5. Sign in to Semurai, pick a default workspace and click Allow.

  6. In a chat, type @ and pick Semurai.

Good to know

  • Custom MCP servers are a feature of ChatGPT on the web. Which plans get full access is in the table further down this page.
  • Older ChatGPT workspaces may still show the legacy route, Settings → Apps → Create with developer mode. The Plugins flow above does not need developer mode.

  • ChatGPT asks you to confirm before write actions, such as saving a draft, publishing or scheduling, based on the app’s permissions and the context.

Is ChatGPT good for SEO?

ChatGPT helps with the SEO work that needs reasoning and writing: briefs, outlines, title ideas and report summaries. What it lacks on its own is data, such as search volumes, your rankings and Search Console clicks. With Semurai connected as a custom MCP server, ChatGPT works from those numbers and saves its output in your workspace.

Can ChatGPT publish to WordPress?

Yes, if your ChatGPT plan allows write actions: Business or Enterprise/Edu. Pro connects with read access, so it researches and reports but does not publish. With WordPress connected in Semurai, ChatGPT sends the article as a draft or schedules it, and before that write action ChatGPT can ask you to confirm, depending on the app’s permissions and the request.

Which ChatGPT plans can connect Semurai?

ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu get full access on the web: research, reports, drafts, publishing and scheduling. Pro connects with read access, which covers research and reports. On Business, admins and owners add Semurai for the ChatGPT workspace; on Enterprise/Edu, admins can let selected members connect.

Do I need developer mode in ChatGPT?

No. The current Plugins flow adds a custom MCP server directly: open Plugins, click +, then Add custom MCP server. Developer mode is not part of it.

Does ChatGPT ask before it publishes or schedules?

ChatGPT asks for confirmation before write actions, based on the app’s permissions and the context of the request. In Semurai’s tool list, publishing an article, changing a store or queueing a post is labelled as an action on a live channel, so ChatGPT treats it as a write action.

Why don’t new Semurai tools show up in ChatGPT?

ChatGPT keeps a snapshot of the tool list from when the plugin was created. When Semurai adds tools, an admin of the ChatGPT workspace refreshes the tool list in its app settings, and the new tools appear.

Is my data safe when ChatGPT uses Semurai?

ChatGPT signs in to Semurai with OAuth, so it never sees your password and there is no API key to leak. It works with your role in each workspace, its access token lasts one hour and renews on its own, and disconnecting ChatGPT in Settings → AI assistants (MCP) ends its access immediately.

Can ChatGPT schedule social media posts?

Yes, with full access. ChatGPT drafts posts for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X in Semurai, then queues the posts you pick for automatic publication on connected Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn accounts. Instagram posts need an image, which ChatGPT can create in Semurai through the full server.

Can ChatGPT create images in Semurai?

Yes, through Semurai’s full server, which you add as a second custom MCP server: in Plugins, click +, choose Add custom MCP server, enter https://api.semur.ai/mcp/full with OAuth and allow it in Semurai. ChatGPT can then make on-brand images for your media library, Canvas designs such as banners and ads, Creative Studio designs from carousels to landing pages, and alt texts for library images. It answers the designer’s questions in the chat, revises designs and saves finished ones to the media library for your social posts. Making graphics is a write action, so it needs ChatGPT Business or Enterprise/Edu, and each graphic counts toward your workspace’s usage limits.
